Welcome to CrossFit Blackwater

As it’s my first blog I’m going to introduce myself. My name’s Scott, I’m co-owner/coach at CrossFit Blackwater.  I’m hugely passionate about CrossFit and have been competing all around Europe since 2008. 

Back in 2007 I was stuck in a bit of a rut.  I’ve always done some form of fitness but I just could not pin down what was right for me at that time.  One day I would go and lift weights, the next a 5k run or maybe a visit to a local park to throw random heavy objects around, in a safe manner of course.  Why was there not anything that involved both the cardiovascular effort of running or rowing combined with the strength of lifting things? Then one day I was doing my usual high rep finisher in a local gym and one of the PT’s called out, “Are you doing CrossFit?”.  To cut it short I went home and googled it.  Picked a workout from CF main page and Boom I was hooked.

So what is CrossFit?  There’s a long answer on CF main page, but from me to you it’s a programme that will make you better at running, stronger, faster, improve your agility, make you better at your sport…. Well I could go on but then I may as well give you main page long answer!

Now I have introduced myself here’s what we call the WOD (workout of the day):

Strength: Front squat 10-8-6-4-2 Ascending weight

Metcon: ‘Helen’

For time 3 rounds of:
400m run
21 kettlebell swings 24/16kg
12 pull-ups / ring rows

Finisher: Band pullaparts
